I have just returned (Dec 2011) from a visit to the Picasso exhibition currently held at the Art gallery of New South Wales. This exhibition is drawn from Picasso’s work held by the Musèe National Picasso in Paris.
Weather you understand all of Picasso’s work or whether you like any of it you have to admit he gets you thinking which in my opinion is what he always set out to do.
I think the exhibition guide book expressed it very well: “His work lays bare his personal passions, desires and fears, as well as the anxieties of his time, the horrors of war, and fragility and resilience of human life.”
Well worth a visit even if just to obtain a little more insight into the Pablo Picasso the artist and his thinking.
The exhibition runs from the 12 November 2011 till 25 March 2012 at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
